2016 Coronado Speed Festival with San Diego Fleet Week Foundation
Historic car racing will take center stage as more than 250 vintage sports cars, formula cars and sports racers will take on the unique opportunity race an airport road course during the SVRA Fleet Week Coronado Speed Festival. SVRA has again partnered with the San Diego Fleet Week Foundation for this 19th annual Fleet Week event. The weekend features three days of vintage racing, car shows, a military pit crew challenge and military displays, all staged on the runways of the Coronado North Island Naval Air Station. The Speed Festival is the premier event of the Fleet Week activities, and serves both as an open house for the base and as tribute to the branches of the military with operations in San Diego.
The temporary race course is a twisty, 1.7-mile course built on the runways and taxiways of the Naval Air Station. The course provides a unique challenge for competitors, as well as exciting racing for the spectators. In addition to racing there are many special features planned that highlight the weekend.
This unique event remains a popular vintage event and SVRA continues its commitment to making the 2016 festival the biggest and best ever. The Coronado Speed Festival is an invitational race.
The Jaguar Driving Experience is again part of this event. Jaguar is bringing a selection of their new performance cars for entrants, crews and spectators to autocross on a course set up in the paddock. Be sure to join in the fun.
